IIM- Kolkata – a maiden venture in the Management stream


Located in the popular city of Kolkata, Indian Institute of Management – Kolkata or IIM- Kolkata, is a public business school. As per the sources, it is the first IIM or Indian institute of Management, which was actually placed in India. it is considered or ranked as one of the best business schools amongst all in both India and Asia-pacific region. Established in the year 1961, it is an autonomous institution that provides numerous graduate and post-graduate program-mes. The institute, fondly called IIM- C, is engaged in various activities, such as academic Conferences, seminars and Consultancy research. It, indeed, is amidst the best institutes of management across the nation.


A feather in its cap, it’s been a member of Global Alliance in Management Education (CEMS) for several years now. As far as the program-mes are concerned, then five full-time program-mes are offered by the institute. The institute has one of the popular courses to its credit, by the name CEMS Masters in International Management degree on account of it being the member of Global Alliance in Management Education (CEMS). Several other courses, such as Management Program-mes for Armed Forces Officers (AFP), Executive Education, and other Research and Consultancy program-mes, are much sought-after. Monetarily, too, IIM- Kolkata fee Structure is justified as well.

On 14th November, 2010, the Management Institute has already celebrated its Golden Jubilee or the 50th Year. The same continued to be felicitated for the next two years, in continuation. The invitees are none other than its past alumni, past faculty, present ones, staff, etc.; who enjoyed the function to the hilt, treading down to its memory lane. It was the great personality – Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru – who is responsible for the introduction of IITs and IIMs. IIM- Kolkata accepts the aspirants with a good CAT (Common Aptitude Test) Score, along with taking into concern both the academic record (of the students) and their work-experience.
